New Year’s Eve in Stockholm
At new year Stockholm should be covered with white shining snow and a black winter sky for a perfect background for the New Years fireworks. This year it is unlikely with snow but it will be as dark as it usually is.
Most people in Stockholm spend New Year either at a private party or at a dinner with friends and family but restaurants are getting more and more popular and is of course perfect for tourists. At midnight you take your warm jacket over your nice party clothes and go outside for a toast with champagne and watch the beautiful fireworks.
Official fireworks are scarce nowadays but private rockets will light up the sky. Any high point in the city will be a great place to be. Favourite places are Fjällgatan, Västerbron and Monteliusvägen.
Of course Skansen is always a good place to be, this is the most traditional celebration. Skansen have singing, dancing and a beautiful view of Stockholm.
Make sure to get a reservation if you want to dine out on the evening of the 31st.
