It is now possible to sell beer, wine and other alcohol – without serving hot food which previously was impossible in Sweden. This is almost a small revolution in the modern day kingdom of Sweden.
In Stockholm, two permits were granted on the same day the law came into effect. One flower shop and one gallery. Many more will follow.
Lets see what happens when swedes can buy alcohol almost freely and without going to the state owned monopoly and until now only place to buy liqueur without also ordering more or less expensive food.
When cousin Finland many years ago let the Finnish people buy liqueur freely and more cheaply it was obvious that many people had a problem handling this new freedom. It was common to see men sleeping it off in the streets of Helsinki. Let’s hope Swedish people in 2026 are more mature and enjoy this extra spice in life with a sense of smart moderation.
