For the first time for 35 years Stockholm will now see double-decker buses rolling in Stockholm traffic again. The new comfortable buses will run between Stockholm and Norrtälje in the northen part of Stockholm.

I remember red double deckers in Stockholm in 1970, and I have a photo of one. Can you tell me about them – how many, made by whom, and why were they not continued?

There haven’t been any double deckers in Stockholm city since 1975. The reason is probably that they are not very accessible for people with disabilities. But, if you are lucky you might see one of the old ones that are taken out of storage on special occasions and still makes a few rounds in the city. However there are modern double deckers going to the suburbs of Norrtälje.
