What is the best book about Stockholm?
City of My Dreams, in Swedish “Mina drömmars stad” is a 1960 novel by the Swedish writer Per Anders Fogelström. This, the first book in his five-volume Stockholm Series, broke the record for bestsellers. The story follows a group of working-class people on Södermalm in Stockholm between 1860 and 1880. As the first novel in a series of five, maybe it’s the best but all of them are incredible books about Stockholm. The book was later adapted to a 1976 film with the same title. A must read for anyone interested in getting to know the real Stockholm and it’s history.
